The Art of Kente...

Have I ever mentioned how much I love artsy things? Yep, its true. I am a big fan of all things colored, textured, bold, matching, painted, sculpted, danced, created.. Artsy!!!!  I wish I was multitalented enough to be an expert of all forms of art. But, alas, I am not. I do however have lots of artsy friends who, every once in a while, I get to help out and design something fun to help promote their amazing artistic gifts.

This project was certainly one of those fun artist to artist projects. A wonderfully talented friend of mine is an amazing artist. From painting to drawing to weaving.. this girl rocks! One of her newest adventures is taking her thesis project and love of Kente cloth (an intricately patterned and symbolic textile woven by the Asante and Ewe peoples of Ghana and Togo), and has started giving classes, presentations and workshops about this beautiful cloth. She recently asked me to design her a brochure to help market what she does and get people interested in learning more about the art of Kente.

I loved this project, so colorful and different. And I even got to learn more about the process of this beautifully woven art form.

Thanks Rhonda for letting me help display and market some of your amazing talents!

Blessings... Times Two!

Certain dates will forever stand out in my mind. March 1st is now one of those dates. To anyone else it was just an uneventful Thursday... But for some of us it was a BIG DAY! Not only did I witness a true miracle in my own life but a very dear friend of mine welcomed her twin boys into the world. YAY! It was indeed an amazing day and one that I will never forget.

Last week I got to spend an afternoon taking some photos of these little guys (they finally got the OK to be off of oxygen so of course newborn photos were in order)  We had so much fun posing and moving and dressing these little ones... who slept the entire time!!!!!! Silly boys, we tried to wake them at the end to get some pretty open eye photos but no go.. those boys were napping for all it was worth.

I love taking newborn photos and it was so fun to have TWO little ones to capture. These boys just warm my heart and I am so excited to get to watch them grow up into wonderful little gentlemen. Welcome to the world boys and thanks for sharing your special day with me!

Oh ya, and if you will remember a few months ago I designed a fun little Baby Shower Invite for a friend of mine having twin boys.... Yep one and the same, these precious boys are finally here!!!

Double the FUN!!!

It is definitely spring around here.. which means Birthday & Baby season! For the past few weeks we have had multiple parties to attend as well as countless friends giving birth to new little bundles of joy. YAY for birthdays, babies, balloons and lots of Cake!!!!

Not only do I love a good birthday party but I really love getting to designing cute Birthday Invites. A few weeks ago I was asked by a dear friend of mine to help design an invite for her twin daughters 2nd birthday. These little girlies are just so precious and cute, I still remember visiting them right after their birth and it has been fun to watch their personalities come alive over the past 2 years. I was very honored to take part in their big day by designing their cute little animal themed invites... to go along with their super fun animal themed party!!!

Happy 2nd Birthday little ladies, hope your day was wonderful!!!!

A Picture of Spring!!!

On this drizzly spring night I thought I would share a little look at some of my favorites from a beautiful spring photo shoot I captured recently.

A dear friend of mine's family and adorable little granddaughter were going to be in town for a few short days and she wanted to try to get some photos taken before they left. The day before the shoot we had SNOW, yes snow! I was a bit worried as you never know what spring in Colorado will bring, however on the day of the shoot we awoke to beautiful blue skies and still perfectly blooming flowers. YAY! We could not have picked a better day to go play in the tulips!!!!

I had so much fun taking photos of this little family and an even harder time picking out just a few of my favorites to share with you. Thanks dear friend for asking me come take photos of your sweet little granddaughter!

Surprise! Surprise!!!

Happy First of April.. or April Fools Day!!!!!  A lot of people are posting jokes or funny stories today.. but I thought it would be fun to post something that is indeed a FACT!!!!
Yep, its true... after 3 long years of tears, frustrations, and lots of prayers we finally have a little miracle on the way! I am still in awe and a little bit in shock that this dream is really coming true. WOW!

Oh, and ya, these are little cards I designed to share the good news with a few of my family members!!!!
