Small Business... Tuesday!!!

Happy Tuesday!!!!!

In light of Small Business Saturday this past weekend, I wanted to take the time to say that I am beyond blessed to work with some of the most amazing and talented small business owners out there. The opportunities that I have to meet and come alongside these businesses and ministries and help them reach their goals is such a blessing to me one of the main things I truly love about my job as a graphic designer and small business owner myself!!

So without further ado... here are a few of the wonderful businesses that I have had the honor of designing for and working with this year.

ENJOY!

Something New!!!

Something Old. Something New. Something Borrowed. Something Yellow!?!?!?!?!

Yes, that is right, did you notice? We have a new look! Many of you who know me personally know that I have a deep love of the color green. Which has been a part of my logo for a long time. BUT after 10, yes TEN, years this summer that I have been in business here at tÜsdé productions I thought it was high time I updated my look a bit.

Something Old:
Yes, my something old is the name of course. I may be changing my look but I am not changing my name. So here is a little history of my company name for my something Old. I LOVE to dance, and when I was first learning to dance the best night was Tuesday!! Then a few years later I was living and working in Germany and my day off was Tuesday. See a trend?? Tuesday quickly became one of my favorite days and when I was in design school this word served as the template for many a class project. The Ü and the é of course are throwbacks to the various languages I encountered during my two years spent in Europe.

Something New:
A new look is not complete without a new font group. Yes it is true I am a font nerd!!! I wanted a clean simple look for my business update and these fonts did the trick. Simple. Elegant. FUN!

Something Borrowed:
Ok, so not really borrowed but more of an image that holds many good memories in my life. This would be the little bird in my logo. I love birds, grew up with two little parakeets when I was a child and have always liked the image that the Lord takes care of the birds of the air, so how much more will He take care of me? It is an image of comfort and strength for me. This bird version is similar to the previous but with a little clean up and simplification.

Something YELLOW!
Ok, we are finally getting down to the root of the new look here. Yellow, and grey, and fun zig-zags.. oh my! As I was contemplating this new design look I thought back to the first few times I knew I wanted to be an artist. I have many fond memories of when I was a small child taking art classes at our local community center or with a dear artist friends of ours. The one project that stands out in my mind is a little yellow house I did with oil pastels. It was framed and hung up in a small art gallery for a while and as a child of 5 or 6 I thought this was SO AMAZING!! Yellow was my favorite color as a kid and it is with this new look that I am making a little nod back to where it all began. Plus it is a super fun, crisp, fresh, happy color!!!

So there you go. It has been an amazing 10 years with my little business. I am grateful for all the wonderful clients and friends I have made along the way and I can not wait to see what the next 10+ years will bring!!

ENJOY!!

Happy CMC Day!!!

Ok, so no, it is not an official holiday. But today was a big day for Colorado Mountain College.
We have been super busy over here working on several fun projects for todays big CMC Day/Faculty
In-Service Day at the college.

Not only was it a fun challenge to work on so many different projects for one event, I loved getting to work on a coordinating "set" of projects like these. So many various ideas, sizes, versions....

All different.

All the same.

Matching, but not match-matchy.

Yes, this is what makes my little design heart happy!

ENJOY!!!

Christmas Showcase #16 - Children Matter

Hello and Happy Monday!!! I thought I would kick start this week of Shop Small Showcases with a look at a few of my favorite local small businesses.

Over the past year I have been honored to be able to work with an amazing team of women over at Children Matter. A local speech, language and occupational therapy center. Their business is growing and expanding and they recently opened up a third therapy location. YAY! The work these ladies are doing with these kids and the impact they are having in their lives is making a world of difference or as their motto states, "Changing lives one Child at a time."

I love being able to be a part of this growing small business and I wanted to share a few of the recent design projects we have worked on recently.

ENJOY!

Spring Logo/Business Card #4 - West Elk Woodfloors!!!

Today for my final Spring Logo showcase I have something a little different. This project is not a new logo.. but rather an update of an old logo and business cards for "West Elk Woodfloors."

Yes indeed, I do updates as well. With all the constant change in business and marketing it is wise to stay on top of things and keep your business look fresh.

A wonderful client came to me recently with a scratchy, scanned, black and white copy of the old card and asked if I could help updating the cards and add in some color. Yes! I love projects that give me a little challenge. I think they turned out super fun, clean and professional.

ENJOY!

Dawna's Design Threads...

Are you ready for this weeks September Showcase Logo? I know I am!!!! I have been eagerly awaiting sharing this fun little design with you and today is finally that day!!!!

I love small businesses, I know I say that a lot but it is true. I love being able to help give people who are just starting out, or who want a more professional look, a fun "face lift" to their business. This new client of mine has been in business for a while but was wanting that personal one-of-a-kind logo and marketing look that would help her stand out from the crowd and help her business reach the next level.

My very talented new friend runs a quilting pattern design business called Dawna's Design Threads. She creates fun repeating patterns that fellow quilters can buy and use to finish off their quilts giving them a unique patterned texture to their handiwork. I personally have never quilted in my life, but I just LOVE how beautiful these patterns look on a finished quilt. (You can check out more of her products and examples HERE)

Working with someone who is artsy and talented is always a fun experience. I LOVED her patterns and since she wanted a personal one-of-a-kind logo we decided to use a part of one of these quilting designs she has created and fashion it into a logo design. FUN! It does not get more unique than this!

I just adore how it turned out, simple and elegant and so perfect for her booming small business!!!

ENJOY!

The James Project...

Third and final logo for the week, with matching business cards.. YAY!

I am so excited about sharing this Logo and Business Card design with you today. I love working on projects that tug at my heart. Being a mom there are a lot of things that can tug on our hearts... but none as strongly as our children. Some new friends of mine are starting an organization called "The James Project" to help women and children in need through housing. Widows, orphans, homeless... they are hoping to provide temporary housing when they need it the most. Yep, the heartstrings were tugging a lot with this one.

I am so honored to have been asked to design this logo and business cards to go with. It is a true blessing to be involved with such an awesome organization.

Many blessings R and R in your new adventure!!!!

ENJOY!

A little splash of color...

Well, it is another dreary rainy day in paradise here... and all around the country for that matter. So I thought I would brighten up the day with a little splash of color.

I recently had the opportunity to design some colorful business cards for the owner of The Works. She is a wonderfully talented lady who works with fused, slumped and wired glass designs. I am so excited with how they turned out. Her work is amazing and I am simply in love with all the bright colors she uses in her glass designs.

So without further ado, ENJOY, and I hope this brings a little bit of color into your dreary day!

Ode to a Box!

There was a box
upon my door.
I can not contain my glee.

A simple box
all square and neat.
Oh what could it be?

Inside that box
be still my heart.
What do mine eyes doth see...

Pretty, shiny, lovely things?
It doesn't matter really...

I just love to get a box
all packaged up for me!!!
-

And todays box brought me my newly printed business cards. Oh, I am soooo excited to finally be able to show these to you. There is a new line of Boutique Cards through my printer and I have been wanting to order a sample set to show off. What a better time than now to order new business cards!!!

ENJOY, and let me know if you would like to see a list of all the new shapes and sizes now available!!!

Bring on the Rain....

I LOVE the rain... especially a warm summer rain. A rain that brings new life, new hopes and new seasons. Summer is just around the corner and I am soooo excited. As I sit here listening to the wonderful sounds of the pitter patter through my open door I find it perfectly fitting for the new designs I wanted to share with you today.

A wonderful dear friend of mine is branching out with her Photography and is starting A Kokopelli Photography. I have had so much fun with this project. Taking the idea and imagery that she wanted to use and incorporating it into her overall look. If you are not familiar with it, the Kokopelli is a symbol which is associated with new life and new birth. I love the idea and the reasoning behind it.

And now on this wonderful rainy new day I get to share this imagery with you. ENJOY!!!
Dearest friend, I wish you all the best in this new season of life for you and for your business.
May you always be richly Blessed!!!

A Funky Little Mountain Flower...

This year I have had the pleasure of working with a wonderfully talented couple on several fun marketing projects. Scott and Heather King own A Funky Little Mountain Flower in Glenwood Springs, Co. They did the flowers for my wedding and did a fantastic job. At the beginning of this year they came and asked me to help them with a new "look" for their Photography/Flower/Wedding Planning business. I have loved everything that we have come up with and thought I would take the time to share a bit of the fun. ENJOY!!!
