Christmas Showcase #16 - Children Matter

Hello and Happy Monday!!! I thought I would kick start this week of Shop Small Showcases with a look at a few of my favorite local small businesses.

Over the past year I have been honored to be able to work with an amazing team of women over at Children Matter. A local speech, language and occupational therapy center. Their business is growing and expanding and they recently opened up a third therapy location. YAY! The work these ladies are doing with these kids and the impact they are having in their lives is making a world of difference or as their motto states, "Changing lives one Child at a time."

I love being able to be a part of this growing small business and I wanted to share a few of the recent design projects we have worked on recently.

ENJOY!

Summer Dreaming for a Snowy May Day...

Happy May Day!!! Spring is in the air.. oh wait, no, those are snowflakes. However glad I am for the moisture I know we need.. I can't help but find myself dreaming of the warmth of summer today.

Warm days at the park, picnics, baseball, swimming, flowing summer skirts, windows open, BBQ's and playing in the water. Oh, yes.. lots and lots of playing in the water!!!

Speaking of water... on this snowy 1st of May, I thought I would share with you a recent brochure project I worked on for the wonderful raft guides at Whitewater Rafting, in Glenwood Springs, CO. It helps to remember, as I sit staring at these big white flakes falling from the sky... that lots of snow, brings lots of rafting!!! I think I can handle that! Let the summer dreaming begin!!!

ENJOY!

A little something for Spring Break!!!

Happy Spring Break! Yes I know, not everyone has Spring Break this week, nor am I in school, nor are my kids in school... But this week has still felt like Spring Break to me and I am loving it!!!

So on that note I decided to take this weeks to share with you a few of my recent school projects. No, like I mentioned earlier, I am not in school, I just happen to have a school as my main design client.

I love getting to design fun new things for Colorado Mountain College throughout the year, as well as the opportunity to spruce up last years ads and marketing materials for this years mailing. Here are a few of the recent projects I have been working on. Yep, 2013 is starting off with some fun ideas from my wonderful alma mater!

Back to School... My Way...

I love this time of year! Change is officially in the air and from the looks of the numerous photos of super cute kids (and yes even a few adults) I have seen posted this week, Back-to-School is officially underway! So I just had to jump on board and share a few of my own Back-to-School photos!!!

No, I am not going back to school, nor did my daughter take that first step into a classroom this year. I just thought it would be a perfect opportunity to share with you a few of the recent projects I have been working on for my alma mater Colorado Mountain College. Yep, thats right... for me, everyday is a Back-to-School day with fun school related projects like these on my plate.

So without further ado.. here is my version of Back to School 2012!

A Few Things CMC...

WOW, Graduation season is upon us already. I can't believe that exactly 8 years ago this weekend I was among the many donning cap and gown and preparing to step out into the world with my new diplomas in hand. Still seems like just last year though.. crazy how time flies!

My college days may be far behind me, but the school I went to is still a very big part of my everyday life. You see, shortly after graduating with a double degree in Graphic Design & Photography from Colorado Mountain College, I was asked if I would be willing to work on a little design project for them. Of course I said YES! This was an opportunity I simply could not pass up. Over the years I have taken one more and more projects and today my wonderful alma mater remains my biggest client! I love being able to keep track of where the school is headed and what fun things they are bringing to the education scene each year.

So without further ado, ENJOY a peak into a few of the little CMC projects I have been working on the past few months, and CONGRATULATIONS to everyone Graduation this weekend!

The Art of Kente...

Have I ever mentioned how much I love artsy things? Yep, its true. I am a big fan of all things colored, textured, bold, matching, painted, sculpted, danced, created.. Artsy!!!!  I wish I was multitalented enough to be an expert of all forms of art. But, alas, I am not. I do however have lots of artsy friends who, every once in a while, I get to help out and design something fun to help promote their amazing artistic gifts.

This project was certainly one of those fun artist to artist projects. A wonderfully talented friend of mine is an amazing artist. From painting to drawing to weaving.. this girl rocks! One of her newest adventures is taking her thesis project and love of Kente cloth (an intricately patterned and symbolic textile woven by the Asante and Ewe peoples of Ghana and Togo), and has started giving classes, presentations and workshops about this beautiful cloth. She recently asked me to design her a brochure to help market what she does and get people interested in learning more about the art of Kente.

I loved this project, so colorful and different. And I even got to learn more about the process of this beautifully woven art form.

Thanks Rhonda for letting me help display and market some of your amazing talents!

ENJOY!

A New Generation...

Happy New Year!!! 2012 is upon us already but I still have a few 2011 projects I have yet to share. So without further ado here is a fun little, ahem, not-so-little project I worked on a few months ago.

At the end of the summer I was asked to help design a Logo and corresponding Marketing Materials for Family in Christ Community Church's upcoming Capital Campaign. I love being able to use my gifts and talents in this way and I was super excited to work and serve with such an amazing team of leaders.

What originally started out as a little logo soon turned into a HUGE portfolio of projects... each one just a little bit different and unique. This was indeed a fun project for me to work on, for as any of you who know me well will know, I LOVE Matchy Matchy!!!! It just does not get better than working on over 20 different design projects that all have to MATCH!!! Whew.. it was a lot of work but they all turned out wonderfully and I am truly blessed to have been such a big part of this campaign.

ENJOY!
